Early in the Seventies we started our kennel ‘van ’t Klein Laar’, where we have worked with all types of dogs, from mongrels to Boxers to Irish Setters. After learning about the Golden Retriever-breed, it was love at first sight. Ever since then this breed has been our one and only ‘dog’ love!

Back in the Seventies the Golden Retriever was rarely seen in the Netherlands. Having been one of the most popular breeds for quite some time now, we are convinced it will continue to be a wide favorite.

This makes our work as breeders, an enormous responsibility: to keep this lovely breed ‘fit for function’ in body and mind requires wise decision-making and long-term goals.

Right from the start of‘t Klein Laar, we have been members of the Dutch Golden Retriever Club (GRCN). The GRCN’s purpose is to take care of the breeds’ interests, a goal we gladly comply with.

On this website, we’ve made an effort to show you our lovely dogs, to explain what our thoughts are on the breed and to clarify, why, for almost 40 years now, this love of the Golden Retriever breed keeps us highly motivated as breeders and as dog lovers.
